Working together; parental partnerships.
Saffron Walden Nursery School recognises parents as the first and most important educators of their children. We pride ourselves on being partners with parents in providing care and education for their children.
There are many ways in which parents can support their child’s learning at Saffron Walden Nursery School including:
Come to our activity sessions
We offer regular “Stay and Play Activity” sessions, these provide a wonderful opportunity for you to spend time with your child within the setting and to see what we get up to. Previous themes for these sessions have included; making bird feeders, messy play and cooking. We hope to provide you with lots of lovely ideas to try at home.
Share something you do
We love having visitors to the nursery. In the past parents have come in to talk to the children about their jobs, new babies and pets. Some parents have special skills which they have shared with the children from gardening to baking. We also welcome parent volunteers to our sessions. If you have an idea of how you could help please do speak to your child’s Key Person.
Borrow a learning pack
We have created a “Lending Library” for both The Cubby and The Den. These packs contain an activity for you to do with your child, it may be a song, story or even a game to play. Each pack also contains suggestions for how to extend your child’s learning.
Borrow a book
In the Den alongside our activity packs we also have a library of books the children can borrow. Each child has a zip-lock book bag and reading record in their tray. Please do take the time to borrow and share a book and write a comment about what you have enjoyed.
Share news with us
Tell us what your child is doing – we love hearing about your child’s achievements and adventures at home no matter how small. There are many ways you can do this from completing a WOW moment, to adding photos to your learning journey/holiday book or simply just telling your key person!
There are many ways that you can help……
As a charity we rely on the support of parental volunteers for our continued existence. Our Nursery is run by a management committee who plays an essential role in the running of the Nursery.
As a not-for-profit charity we rely on fundraising to buy resources, new equipment and to maintain our building and grounds. Our fundraising team of staff and parents have great fun organising events to raise funds which will directly benefit your child.
….We are always grateful for an extra pair of hands at the nursery, whether it be helping with the gardening or coming in to work with the children.
For more information about volunteering please speak to a member of staff or contact us.
